28/02/23 Improve task:
This sessions improvisation to me didn’t work as I thought I would, the real struggle was definitely my imagination and me picturing myself what/where Morley wanted me to be. Especially during the laser task as I felt I just couldn’t picture myself in that moment and that I was being to planned with my moment as in I was using rolls we’d previously learnt instead of actually just using my body to guide me. Another task was that our body’s were covered in paint and we had to get it off of each area of our bodies, I felt I targeted the floor a lot for this as in an a lot of rolls in different ways, again I felt as if I hadn’t used my bodies full potential. I think after improvising more and digging deeper into my bodies movement I’d like to try the laser exercise again as I could do it so much better than I had done.
17/02/23 Choreography workshop:
After introducing themselves, Lana began a warm up and it was different to how we normally warm up. Most of us found it harder than normal whether that was because it was after a class or just for the particular reason that she warms up better than we are familiar with. I think the main thing that didn’t/was hard for me to work with was how fast she was teaching, it took my a while to process normal choreography but I think because I went with the flow of things that I got into a similar mindset to her and managed to keep up. However, I really enjoyed the style of this as I feel I am better at more commercial styled choreography rather
3/03/23 Question & Answer:
Improvisation always seemed hard to me, however I feel that after getting comfortable with the class we’ve gotten a lot better at improvising when given a topic. Specifically the Thursday lesson I felt the way Morley engaged us all really helped me get into my own body to express each joint, Morley also said we could stand in any direction so I purposely stood to the back so that I couldn’t feel other’s judgment or copy another’s w choice. The room had an effect on me as well due to it not being our usual light big space, we had a dark smaller room that was fully black besides it’s windows. The subject Morley gave us was partner work where we had to create a sentence between us, my partner and I didn’t communicate a specific topic to this sentence but t always seemed to follow the lines of a one-sided friendship where I'd mainly follow and copy her yet sometimes I’d give up and not follow her as much. This type of improvisation was fun as we had to adapt to one another and almost try to read each others minds to see where we’d go next.
3/03/23 Circles:
After that, Morley got us to create a 6 stepped piece where every move was creating a circle but had to be conjoined, due to this being a single project I felt it was a lot easier to come up with steps however it felt basic to be even though I tried to use my whole body at times to create these circles. Once we’d created and performed our sequences, Morley then set us up with a new partner in

8/03/23 Folding & Unfolding:
This exercise was to fold and then unfold that movement previous. Although it sounds basic this task was actually quite unique to me, i used different levels and dynamics to create these motions of folding and unfolding whether it was simply just my arm or my whole body. I think I enjoyed this exercise as it had to use fully extension for some reason even though I may not be the most flexible with my back and legs I still felt I could extend my body to its fully in the folding & unfolding motion.
8/03/23 Oil:
The Oil exercise was that we had to imagine oil was everywhere in our body. This had to be my favourite, I felt so free whilst doing it as if I didn’t have to do this roll or that arm I kind of went with the flow of the music and how my body interprets having oil running through it. My imagination put my in a tank sort of where I was just this dirty liquid moving around freely. After being this liquid Morley changed it to us trying to get rid of this liquid from our body as if to flick it off, immediately I starting kicking, flicking and swinging my body as if this liquid was poison and I had to get rid of it. Again I felt carefree within this exercise and dug deep to really almost become this liquid. Then again Morley changed it to us shaking the liquid off, this was a little harder as I found some of my movement was leaning towards flicking the liquid off my body however I still let my body try to guide me as much as I could. Throughout the exercise Morley changed between the three different ways yet still I could create different movements for each task as I let my body guide me. I’d definitely do this again.
8/03/23 Room imp:
This was really unique and different for me to do as we had to really think about our routines in the morning as we wake up. We tried to show our varieties of routines through movement. I found this exercise a good challenge for me as I tried to make it not obvious as to what I was doing but also that my peers could tell I was spraying deodorant or that I was putting my clothes on. I think the hard part to this exercise is that we had to try not go for the obvious movement and to try use different parts of my body to express what I am doing during my morning routine. Personally I would definitely like to try out quirkier styles to show how I get ready for college or any other matter again.
